BluePrintCleanse: Day 2

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

It’s been a full 48 hours that I’ve been doing the BluePrintCleanse which means I’m a little over half way there. Like yesterday, today came with its ups and downs. Surprisingly, I didn’t yearn for food like I did yesterday, even while ordering out with Jeff I was pretty much fine with my juice. That may be because I had a quarter of an avocado (one of the cheat foods allowed on the cleanse), but it was definitely different than yesterday.

In terms of appetite, I again found myself completely satisfied, to the point that finishing all 6 juices was a struggle.  I was able to take down the green juice easier today, but it was by no means a piece of cake (dorky pun intended), the third was especially difficult and I could only bring myself to finish 3/4 of the bottle.  As for the rest of the juices, I enjoyed them just as much as I did yesterday with the spicy lemonade and cashew milk being the stand-outs in terms of flavor.

My energy was not affecting at all by the cleanse – in fact, I felt like I had more stamina than when I’m eating normally. I ran 7 miles (granted it was on the treadmill) without getting the least bit tired. After the run, I noticed that I was hungrier than I usually am, so coming home to the cashew milk was perfect.

Some pretty significant changes seemed to surface today as well. First of all, I didn’t crave diet soda like I normally do. Jeff is always trying to get me away from this stuff, so the fact that I didn’t reach for a diet ginger ale or even crave one is a huge win. in addition, my cravings for sweets had declined overall. Most nights I need some form of dessert to feel truly satisfied. Whether its a spoonful of peanut butter, some frozen yogurt  or a cookie, I definitely have a sweet tooth. In the past two days, I haven’t even thought about dessert, except when my roommates asked me to bake them a treat. Finally, I’m less dependent on caffeine. I don’t even feel the need to drink green tea for energy.

One change that I’m not thrilled with is the weight loss. I am at the low-end of my healthy weight right now and losing even 3 pounds is considerable for my shape and size. I know this is water weight so I’m not too worried, but it does make me think that a cleanse that incorporates some real food may be a better fit for me.

Stay tuned for BPC: Day 3 tomorrow evening.

Good night!
